This portfolio was made for my English 130 class. Throughout the semester, we studied digital culture in this generation. Much of our writing such as keyword, progress essay, and informal writings were based off of Ted Talks, videos, and articles we read informing us about digital culture. With those assignments, I focused on things such as identity online, technology in the classroom, and what I've learned about digital culture over the course of the semester. My annotations were based off of my research, the Common Core State Standards, as well as my inquiry paper. My peer responses are purely based off of what I read from my peers works. The film I created with my group is the reality of Whitney Hall (with a little twist). My work shows progress from my informal writings to my progress essay to my annoations and to my inquiry paper. My work also shows my effort in the English 130 class and what I really poured my heart and soul into.

I feel that my best work this semester has been my research (annoations) and inquiry paper that follows. I spent countless hours of research into the paper to make it the best I possibly could. As a future teacher, I was very interested in the topic to begin with, so my research was more of a learning process than somthing that I dragged. I find that my best work with my annotations was my research on what common core was and how teachers had started implmenting them into their classrooms (annotation 1) and also my work with special education and English language learners (annotations 2 and 3). As far as my inquiry paper, I find the entire thing as gold (HAHA! Just kidding). I've worked very hard on that assignment and find it hard to just pick one area that I see as the best. My work on English language learners is very strong as well my work with special education. One of my favorite parts is when I discuss what a common core classroom looks like and how teachers feel about the new standards because I was able to use the survey answers I received from an elementary school back home. My best work in English 130 is, by far, my inquiry paper.

Creating this portfolio has been a fun experience for me. I decided to use Wix.com and have learned alot about the site while trying to create the image I had in my head. The design I chose for my portfolio seemed easy enough, but professional enough to create what I had wanted. I found that I could not move the gridlines, which I thought was challenging as far as trying to fit everything on one page. Once I finished all my editing, I love the way my site looks. It's very clean and wix gave me exactly what I had envisioned. I would've liked to put all the google docs on another, without using the "button", but I came to terms with the idea once I couldn't possibly figure out how to do what I had wanted. All in all, wix has been a good experience for me.

English 130 was not what I had expected. I've enjoyed not only the assignments, but the classroom atmosphere as well. I learn better with interaction and that's exactly what I got in this class. For my first semester in college, this class taught me more than just how to write, but I also learned some life lessons along the way. I will miss Kim Jaxon and her style of teaching!
